Outstanding Women Artists

Thanks to all my wonderful friends who came to the opening of the exhibition last night. And I was so thrilled to be hanging with such wonderful artists...their work is amazing. I have some portraits hanging, but the other artists are showing different works and styles - and they are amazing. The exhibtion is on till June 26 at Media House Gallery (the Age building), Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm (closed weekends).

Some possible inspirations for a portrait from my visit to the High Art Museum in Atlanta. There was a room with different mirrors that created some wonderful distortions. The one where I'm standing, and other people are as well didn't photograph at all well....but it was a really interesting effect in real life. Some possibilities to explore in paint now. And it was great to be at the museum with people who had works hanging in it as well. I had the great fortune to sit next to Rhoda Sherbell  in the gallery as we talked art and bemoaned our sore feet.

 

 

These are demo paintings done by the amazing artists at the portrait conference in Atlanta. Some very talented and VERY brave artists demonstrating their work in front of a huge audience and in only a couple of hours. And many of them chatting and keeping us entertained along the way.

last days for 'Eclectic Synergy'

'Eclectic Synergy' is closing next Thursday. The gallery is closed on Saturday for Anzac Day, and doesn't reopen till Wednesday. So that only leaves Friday (tomorrow) and Wednesday 30th.

The gallery is at 64 Parkers Road, Parkdale and open 9 to 5 on both those days.

And if you are interested in purchasing anything there’s a little  office there and the girls will help you out. Just knock. They're really lovely.

Limited editions prints are available for all the works as well as the originals being available.

I'm in the NGV Collection!

Today I had the most astounding news!! Yesterday I received an email from the NGV saying that they were digitising their catalogue and needed me to sign something for my work in their collection????? I have no work in their collection…or am I so vague that I forgot? So I called and told them sadly I thought they had the wrong person. They called me back today and apparently I do!!! It’s an illustration from a book I illustrated called, ‘A True Person’. Albert Ullin, a wonderful man with a passion for kid’s literature, bought it years ago as part of his fantastic collection of book illustrations, and about a year ago the NGV acquired the collection. At the time I thought it was simply amazing enough to be part of a collection with some outstanding children’s book illustrators, but to find out I’m now in the NGV collection is beyond fabulous! So a huge thanks Albert. And thanks also to Jacqueline Taylor​for introducing my work to Albert.

It's on at Media House Gallery, and I'm showcasing some of my portraits. I'm really excited about the chance to show a number of them together and for people to see the works that they have been part of seeing created actually in person.
Other artists in the exhibition are Jacquie Blight, Di Crawford, Betina Fauvel-Ogden, Louise Foletta, Annie On Lee, Heather Shimmen, Barbara Tyson
and Christine Wrest-Smith.
